JunoTrade Corporation was architected in 2008 by John McMorris, Founder and Chief Executive Officer. McMorris’ idea was to innovate the technology for trading so that it requires very little maintenance or “ batch” processing while remaining highly scalable.
Since working on the birth of the ‘cockpit’ type trading applications in the 1990s during his CyberCorp days,
McMorris strived to be on the leading edge of trading technology and sees the “standard Broker Dealer” technology architecture as a huge problem across most existing brokerage systems that substantially raise the cost of entry for those looking to start a BD. The JunoTrade systems are “out of the box” everything needed to start a Broker Dealer and RIA.
Before JunoTrade, McMorris served as Chief Information Officer for ShareBuilder Corporation which was subsequently acquired by INGDIRECT. During his tenure at ShareBuilder he led the technology team to their “Web 2.0” architecture before the acquisition, plus conceptualized a project that allowed re-negotiation of ShareBuilder’s clearing agreement that amounted to millions in savings, paving the way for a much higher valuation for the acquisition.
In addition, McMorris was responsible for setting strategies for software development, data center operations, quality assurance, project management, and information security for ShareBuilder while directly managing all of those teams.
Before joining ShareBuilder in 2006, McMorris served as Chief Technology Officer for CyberTrader a trading financial services and technology arm for Charles Schwab and Co., Inc. McMorris was hired to evolve the CyberCorp v1.0 “VB” Architecture to their v2.0 high capacity, scalable and performance architecture; which was later sold to Charles Schwab. During his tenure at Schwab, he personally architected multiple generations of the Brokerage technology.
While CTO of Schwab’s Active Trader (CyberTrader), McMorris won the Chairman’s award for his cost savings initiative creating a ticker plant and trimming over $50M dollars in repetitive cost structures related to market data. McMorris also worked in technology management positions at Varco International, Inc. where he created massive client-server systems for oil rigs such as the TransOcean Enterprise featured on a Discovery Channel special.
Before Varco, McMorris was founder of Zed Software and created cutting edge BBS software pre-dating the Internet popularity. He has over 25 years of technology development experience.
